Kenya's Equity Bank allays fears over thin Sim

Kenya's Equity Bank has defended its plans to launch a MVNO using thin, overlay Sims, as rival operator Safaricom insisted the technology the bank intends to use is not secure. The bank's CEO James Mwangi allayed fears the thin Sim card Equity plans to use could expose subscribers to financial fraud and intercepted communication. Mwangi told a parliamentary committee that the Sim overlay technology has nothing more than dual-Sim capability. The Sim card enables users to overlay it on their primary Sim card, regardless of network, and can then receive services from two mobile service providers
