Kenya's mobile money transfers grow 19% in 2015

Kenya's volume of money moved through mobile money transfer platforms grew by 19 percent to KES 2.8 trillion in the 12 month to December 2015 compared to KES 2.3 trillion a year earlier. The latest Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) data shows Kenyans transacted an average of KES 235 billion in real-time mobile-based payments per month, or KES 7.7 billion a day in 2015 – compared to the KES 6.5 billion moved daily in the previous year.
