KPN to offer 4G home broadband in rural areas

KPN announced plans to use its 4G mobile network to improve rural broadband coverage in the Netherlands. The new service 'Internet Buitengebied via 4G' will be offered to around 100,000 households unable to access a good broadband connection over the fixed network. Two types of service plan will be offered, based on type of usage. KPN earlier tested the service in the northern town of Loppersum. KPN targets delivering broadband speeds of at least 100 Mbps to 85 percent of Dutch households in 2016, and 93 percent should receive at least 40 Mbps.
