KRA demands KES 8.5 billion from Safaricom in tax arrears for betting firms

The Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) is demanding KES 8.59 billion from Safaricom as withholding tax arrears due from two major betting firms, SportPesa and Betin Kenya, reports Business Daily. The KRA manager for debt enforcement, Asha Salim has written to Safaricom CEO Bob Collymore declaring the telecommunications firm a withholding tax collecting agent for SportPesa and Betin and demanding immediate payment of the sum.
