KT, Docomo, China Mobile to launch 5G trial in 2018

South Korean mobile operators KT's chairman Hwang Chang-gyu had a meeting with NTT Docomo CEO Kaoru Kato, and China Mobile chairman Shang Bing to discuss ways to operate a 5G trial service during the Pyongchang 2018 Winter Olympics, The Korea Times reports. KT will serve as official sponsor of the event. NTT will follow suit at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, with China Mobile seeking 5G deployment at the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics.
