Labour attacks govt plans to explore Channel 4 sale

Labour's shadow Culture Minister, Michael Dugher, has criticised UK government plans to explore a GBP 1 billion privatisation of broadcaster Channel 4, reports The Guardian. He said a sale of Channel 4 would threaten its commitment to public service programming. His comments come after an official was photographed entering Downing Street with a document outlining options for a Channel 4 sell-off. Dugher said that Channel 4 produced 'distinct and important public content' and insisted that it should remain not-for-profit.
