LatAm to need 12-15 mln Km of fibre cable this year

Thursday 27 August 2015 | 11:31 CET | News
Latin America will require between 12 and 15 million kilometres of fibre-optic cable in 2015, reports Telesemana, citing figures released by fibre-optic and electronics components supplier Furukawa. The rollout is equivalent to around 4-5 percent of the global demand of 300 million kilometres, said Furukawa, which invested some USD 20 million in the Latin American region in 2014, including a new fibre-optic cables manufacturing plant in Palmira (Colombia).
