Lebanon appoints new minister, Ogero CEO pending trial

The Lebanese Cabinet has appointed Imad Kreidieh to lead government-owned Ogero Telecom, and Bassel Al Ayyoubi as director general of investment and maintenance at the telecom ministry, Gulf News reported. Abdel-Moneim Youssef, who occupied both posts simultaneously, was sacked and is on trial for corruption and negligence that deprived the state of sorely needed funds. The trial, which was postponed indefinitely to allow more time for investigation, focused on a number of unlicensed internet networks that were found across the country.
