LevelUp powers Chartwells' m-payment services

Wednesday 10 April 2013 | 06:52 CET | News

US-based foodservice management solutions provider Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services has signed a partnership agreement with mobile payments start-up LevelUp. LevelUp allows students to pay for purchases at certain participating merchants or dining venues using a smart device.

To use the service, students should download the LevelUp app and register a personal credit card to generate a dedicated QR code. To use LevelUp's mobile payment service, the merchant or retail dining venue should have a scanning device on site. At check-out, the student pulls up the personal QR code on the smart device to initiate the scanning and the payment process. After this electronic transaction, a receipt is emailed to the student.

LevelUp's website provides a map showing different locations where its mobile payment is accepted on or off campus. Students and parents can also track how much money is being spent at mealtime.
