Liberty Global says Brexit could threaten network investment

Virgin Media parent Liberty Global has made a GBP 700,000 donation to the 'Remain' campaign and warned that it might reconsider future UK network investment if the UK votes to leave the EU, reports TechWeek Europe. Speaking to the Financial Times, Liberty Global CEO Mike Fries said that any political, regulatory and economic uncertainty arising from a 'Brexit' could lead to UK businesses and consumers spending less on communications services. However, he insisted that the current GBP 3 billion Project Lightning network programme was too advanced to be stopped.
