Lime Jamaica obtains AWS spectrum

Lime, the Caribbean business of Cable & Wireless Communications (CWC),has obtained mobile spectrum in the AWS band, which will be used to launch 4G LTE and HSPA+ services in Jamaica. The government will obtain over USD 23 million for the spectrum. In September 2014, the operator had announced a planned investment of USD 250 million in Jamaica over the next three years, to expand and upgrade its mobile telephony network, Lime has operations in 13 countries in the Caribbean. In Jamaica, the telco currently has approximately 750,000 mobile telephony subscribers.
