Linkem takes part in solar energy project

Italian operator Linkem is taking part in a trial that uses low-power antennas and solar panels to power Wimax installations. According to La Repubblica, the project, which is being conducted in collaboration with the University of Rome 3, is testing powering telecommunications systems with photovoltaic panels and lithium batteries. During the trial the working group, which also consists of SunSystem and Fiamm, found only one drawback: the low performance of panels on the market that require the use of large spaces to produce the energy needed, according to Linkem CEO Davide Rota.
