Linkem to launch fixed wireless network throughout Rome

Tuesday 27 September 2016 | 11:37 CET | News
Italian broadband provider Linkem has presented a project to roll out what it describes as Europe's largest fixed wireless network in Rome, reports Il Sole 24 Ore. The operator's fibre to the wireless model uses fibre-optic cables with radio technology for the last mile and the aim is to bring the service to 1.4 million households all over the capital. Linkem's network currently covers over 50 percent of the Italian population, including large cities such as Palermo, Bari, Turin and Naples, and its customer base stands at around 400,000.
