Liquid Telecom holds talks to share idle spectrum

Liquid Telecom is in talks with other network operators about making its idle spectrum available to them, Business Day reported citing the company's new South Africa CEO, Reshaad Sha. The Econet Global subsidiary holds spectrum in the 850 MHz, 1.8 GHz and 3.5 GHz bands that it does make full use of. Mobile operators say they lack spectrum, partly because of the government's slow shift from analogue to digital broadcasting.
