Lithuanian telecom market grows 0.5% in Q2

Revenues of the Lithuanian telecommunications market totaled EUR 175.1 million in the second quarter of this year, up 0.5 percent from a year earlier and 1.3 percent higher versus Q1, according to a study from the national telecommunications regulator RRT. Capital expenditure by operators totaled EUR 19.1 million, of which Telia Lithuania accounted for 56.2 percent.

Broadband penetration grew by 3.8 percentage points, to 49.2 percent. At the end of June, 45.0 percent of households used fixed broadband with at least 30 Mbps speed, up from 43.5 percent a year ago, and 27.7 percent of households used fixed broadband from 100 Mbps, up from 27.0 percent.

The number of fixed broadband subscribers over fibre-optic lines totaled 588,300, up by 0.6 percent. Active mobile internet subscribers reached 2.935 million, up by 12.7 percent. The LTE user base was 2.255 million, up by 10.3 percent, and the number of LTE base stations increased 19.5 percent year-on-year to 8,784. 

The M2M subscriber base grew by 12.1 percent from a year ago to 313,400. Telia Lithuania led in the M2M market with a 52.2 percent share, Bite Lithuania took 27.5 percent, and Tele2 Lithuania followed with 19.1 percent market share.

The pay-TV subscriber base in Lithuania totaled 672,400 at the end of June, up by 0.1 percent, and the penetration of the service totaled 50.1 percent. IPTV subscribers formed 40.3 percent of the total pay-TV subscriber base.
