Latvian mobile operator LMT has started a partnership with the mobile payment company Fortumo for the launch of direct carrier billing (DCB) on Google Play in Latvia. LMT is the second mobile operator in the Telia group to launch DCB through Fortumo. This company launched the service with Telia Estonia in November of 2016.

More than 1 million LMT subscribers can now purchase applications  and digital content from the application online shop by charging payments to their bill.

The same direct carrier billing integration used to launch Google Play will also be used by LMT to launch any other merchants connected to Fortumo’s platform. LMT will also get access to Fortumo Insight, a data analytics platform for carriers to track, analyse and grow their revenue from mobile payments.

In addition to Google Play, Fortumo’s direct carrier billing platform is used by digital media providers (Spotify, Sony, HOOQ, Gaana), gaming companies (EA Mobile, Gameloft, Kinguin, Rovio) and others. To enable carrier billing for these merchants, Fortumo has partnered with more than 350 mobile operators across the world.
