Local firms pushed out of top 5 smartphone vendors in India

Indian manufacturers were pushed out of the top five smartphone vendors in India in the fourth quarter of 2016, as Chinese vendors continued to expand their market share with extremely price-competitive devices, according to a recent report from Canalys. The report also shows that Indian vendors were also affected by the Indian government's decision to demonetize the INR 500 and INR 1,000 (USD 7.30 and USD 14.65) banknotes.
