Lofoten Islands get extra telecoms equipment designed to withstand severe weather

Norwegian communications regulator Nkom said all six boroughs in the Lofoten Islands now have mobile telephony base stations that will function regardless of weather conditions. Svolvaer, Leknes, Ramberg, Reine, Vaeroy and Rost have benefited from funding under Nkom's scheme to boost telecoms at crucial points in Norway. Lessons were learned during Storm Dagmar in 2011.
