London start-up develops customisable smartwatch

London-based start-up Blocks has developed a customisable smartwatch based on Google's new Android Wear system, reports The Guardian. Developed by a team from Imperial College, the device lets users upgrade and swap out sensors, batteries and screens. The main screen section contains the primary battery, processor and Bluetooth connection to a smartphone for internet access. Blocks will create a range of modules which can be connected to produce a smartwatch, including GPS, heart rate and activity monitors, temperature sensors, fingerprint scanners, camera and SIM card slot.
