Orange has secured a contract to bring fibre connectivity to 103,000 rural premises in Lot-et-Garonne. Announcing the news, the French department said that Orange was chosen among eight operators participating in a local tender (AMEL, Appels à Manifestation d'Engagements Locaux). Previously, the local authorities responsible for the project had approved a roll-out plan to complete the rural fibre deployment by 2028. By issuing a call for expressions of commitment, they have secured a more rapid completion, as Orange has undertaken to finish the work by 2023.
