LTE-A deployed in 100 networks in 49 countries - study

LTE-Advanced services have been commercially deployed on 100 networks worldwide in 49 countries, according to a report from 4G Americas. The first LTE-Advanced networks were launched in South Korea in June 2013 and by the end of last year had increased to 33 commercial networks worldwide, all of which used carrier aggregation to increase efficiencies and download speeds. The trade body said it expected almost all operators to eventually roll out LTE-A technology, which will continue to evolve through LTE-Advanced Pro (3GPP Release 13 and beyond) and act as a stepping stone for future network
