LTE basebands pass 50% of total processor sales in H1

Tuesday 18 October 2016 | 16:08 CET | News
The global mobile baseband processor market declined 2 percent year-on-year to USD 10.5 billion in the first half of the year, according to a report by Strategy Analytics. The period saw LTE baseband shipments account for over 50 percent of total baseband shipments for the first time, with the 3G and 2G baseband segments continuing to decline sharply. Qualcomm, MediaTek, Spreadtrum, Samsung LSI, HiSilicon and Intel all benefited from the LTE baseband growth, with Intel set to benefit further in H2 thanks to its new LTE design-win at Apple.
