Luxembourg sets up SES-led consortium to work on EU's quantum communication infrastructure

The government of Luxembourg has put in place a consortium that will contribute to the development of an ultra-secure form of encryption known as QKD (Quantum Key Distribution). This system will be used to transmit encryption keys through quantum communication channels on both terrestrial fibre-optic and space laser links. The consortium will work on the satellite-terrestrial infrastructure enabling QKD, as part of the wider EU-funded Quantum Communication Infrastructure (EuroQCI) project.
