M-net claims first with G.fast launch in Germany

Wednesday 31 May 2017 | 09:51 CET | News
Munich-based operator M-net has claimed a first on the German market with the launch of G.fast on its FTTB network. The company is using network equipment from Huawei and the new Fritz! Box 7582 router from AVM for the service. M-net started its fibre network roll-out in Munich in 2010 and aims to have over 620,000 households connected by 2021, equal to almost 70 percent of the total homes and commercial units. The G.fast upgrade will deliver faster speeds, starting from later this year. Huawei is supplying DPUs for the upgrade, which will mainly affect lines of less than 250m.
