M-Pesa agent transactions rise to KES 1.4 trln in Q3

Thursday 12 November 2020 | 10:24 CET | News
The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) says cash handled by M-Pesa agents rose 28 percent to KES 1.4 trillion in the three months to September after the state started easing restrictions imposed to curb the spread of Covid-19. CBK data show that money handled by the agents grew from KES 1.1 trillion in Q3 2019 and from KES 1.05 trillion in Q2 to June, when Kenya imposed Covid-19 lockdown measures including a daily night-time curfew, closure of bars and travel restrictions.
