M2ocity manages 1.2 million connected meters

M2ocity, an 80/20 joint venture between French utility Veolia Eau and telecom operator Orange, now manages 1.2 million connected objects, Les Echos reports. The company is a competitor of France's Sigfox, which also uses the licence-free 868 MHz and 160 MHz frequencies. Water meters represent 85 percent of its connected objects, which run on a 15-year battery and a fixed radio card instead of a Sim. Veolia Eau is m2ocity's biggest customer, accounting for 75 percent of its EUR 15 million of billings last year. The company aims for EUR 50 million of revenue in France by 2020 and to expand its
