Madrid, Barcelona dominate Spanish fibre-optic coverage

A study of fixed broadband penetration across Spain's 50 provinces conducted by telecoms regulator CNMC has revealed that Madrid and Barcelona are the only two provinces with a penetration rate above 30 lines per 100 inhabitants. Madrid is the leading province, with 33.0 fixed broadband lines per 100 inhabitants, followed by Barcelona with 31.3 and Guipuzcoa in the Basque Country with 29.5. By contrast, the southern province of Jaen in Andalucia had just 17.9 lines per 100 inhabitants, followed by Murcia (18.1) and Huelva (18.2). The national average came in at 26.2 lines per 100
