Magyar Telekom also expands cable network in reverse direction

Thursday 10 October 2019 | 18:29 CET | News

Magyar Telekom will further improve its cable network (HFC) network, local publication Hwsw.hu writes. Shortly after the Docsis 3.1 partial upgrade of its cable network, the service provider will provide faster back-links. In December, it will offer tariff packages that provide valuable upload bandwidth in addition to gigabit downloads.

In the reference offer sent to wholesale partners, Telekom writes that it will begin wholesale sales of its new cable tariff package, offering up to 1 Gbps downlink and up to 200 Mbps downlink, with 100 and 20 Mbps guaranteed by the service provider.

In addition, the prospectus says that Telekom's new package initially covers only a limited area, including Budapest districts III, XVII and XVIII and the nearby locality of Budakalasz.

The service provider also points out that new connection plans may require the replacement of existing connection cables, and that in case of uplink migration of existing subscribers, the subscriber terminal owned by the service provider may also need to be replaced.
