Majority of Swiss disapprove of data retention

A survey on the topic of data retention conducted by Comparis.ch in Switzerland reveals that about half of the participants do not approve of retention of email, internet and telephone data for law enforcement purposes. Almost a third approve of the meta data collection and every fifth person asked had no clear answer. Over 50-year-olds tend to be more suspicious of it than younger people. Regarding the extension of the data retention from six to twelve months, 44 percent agree and 29 are against prolonging the period, while 27 percent of the participants are indifferent.
