Majority of Tanzanians against Sim card tax

About 99 percent of Tanzanians said the TZS 1,000 monthly SIM card tax introduced by the government is not realistic, according to a two-day poll run by ITV on 3 and 4 October. It questioned over 510,000 phone users from Vodacom, Airtel and Tigo networks, who overwhelmingly felt that the charge was unfair given that they were already paying 14.5 percent excise duty on telecommunication services.
