Malawian president approves third mobile phone operator

Malawian president Lazarus Chakwera has approved a proposal to grant the mobile licence for the country's third mobile operator, Nyasa Times reported. Chakwera said he was keen to make sure more young people are ICT savvy and that a third mobile network will promote the development of ICT in urban and rural areas of the country. He said the new mobile operator will encourage competition in the telecommunications industry, increasing quality and affordability.
