Thursday 8 March 2018 | 11:15 CET | News

Isle of Man-based operator Manx Telecom has confirmed the first two areas to get access to the new FTTP fibre broadband service, with plans to roll out the service to more selected homes and businesses across the Island during 2018 and beyond. It aims to make direct fibre broadband available to around 4,600 residential business premises by end-2018.

The FTTP services will be delivered over the company's wholesale network, with services available from any of the Island's ISPs, who will be able to accept FTTP broadband orders from 12 March in the Island's main business district (Athol Street, Douglas) and the residential area Reeyt Ny Sheear (Douglas). The FTTP service will support speeds of up to 1 Gbps.
