Many Danes use work phones and PCs for personal use

Friday 17 March 2017 | 12:31 CET | News

Seven out of ten people in Denmark with a mobile phone or computer that has been provided by their employer have used it for personal use, according to TDC Erhverv. This potentially exposes them to hackers, said TDC’s business arm’s CEO, Marina Lonning. Companies and staff alike have a responsibility to avoid this, she said.

One third of Danes with IT equipment provided by their employer, possess no other devices, said TDC Erhverv. Lonning said it is important for workers to separate personal from professional usage and avoid clicking on unknown links, downloading insecure applications or allowing others to gain access to a mobile phone’s operating system. At the same time, businesses should think of installing antivirus programs in their workforce’s handsets and PCs.
