Marvell targets wearables with new Wi-Fi/Bluetooth chip

Marvell has introduced the Avastar 88W8977 Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 system-on-chip, designed to offer the smallest foot print and lowest bill of materials for the wearables, IoT and smart home markets. The 28nm combo chip provides dual-band capability with fully integrated front-end in order to reduce total system cost and design complexity. By leveraging 28nm technology and Marvell's advanced radio architecture, the 88W8977 also enhances range performance while improving power consumption efficiency, the company said. The Avastar 88W8977 also enables added functionality for the wearables
