Spanish operator Masmovil has launched a 50Mbps fibre offer in 7.5 million homes throughout the country as part of its FTTH coverage deal with Orange, reports website Movilonia. The company previously only allowed the 1.3 million customers covered by its own fibre network to access the 50Mbps download plan but it has now extended it to the 6.2 million indirect connections arising from its agreement with Orange, who were until now limited to contracting a 300Mbps plan.

Masmovil reached a total of 277,000 fixed broadband customers on 30 June, up from 120,000 at the end of December, having added 173,000 in the second quarter alone. The company is looking to eventually extend its fibre-optic footprint to around 10 million homes by the end of the year.
