MEA tablet market bucks global trend, up 77.3% in Q1

Monday 2 June 2014 | 12:58 CET | News
The Middle East and Africa (MEA) tablet market bucked the global trend in the first quarter of 2014, recording 77.3 percent year-on-year growth in shipments to 4 million units, said the International Data Corporation (IDC). Growth were driven by the strong performance in the consumer segment, spurred by numerous IT festivals and vendor-led promotions throughout the region. Most other regions around the world had a year-on-year slowdown in growth during the first quarter or even an overall decline, said Adriana Rangel, research director at IDC.
