Mediapro prevails in Spain football rights "war" with Prisa

Spanish broadcaster Mediapro has prevailed in its long-running dispute with media group Prisa over football content rights. The country's Supreme Court has finally accepted the appeal lodged by Mediapro against the judgment handed down by the Provincial Appellate Court of Madrid in 2010 which ordered the company to pay EUR 105 million in compensation to Canal+, owned by Prisa, for breach of the contracts signed in June 2006 for exclusive rights to broadcast football games on Spanish TV.
