Megacable, Televisa fined for not broadcasting FTA channels

Monday 12 September 2016 | 14:35 CET | News
Mexico's Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT) has fined Mexican pay-TV operators Televisa and Megacable a total of MXN 114.4 million for breaching the requirement to broadcast free-to-air channels throughout the country. The fines mainly refer to the children's channel 11.2 IPN, with the broadcasters accused of failing to broadcast the signal in certain cities such as Sabinas, Hidalgo, Queretaro and Leon. The fines follow Megacable's recent announcement that it would no longer broadcast 14 Televisa Networks channels.
