Megacable to acquire 66 percent of Mexico's PCTV

Mexican pay-TV operator Megacable said it has signed an agreement to acquire 66 percent of TV distributor and producer PCTV, reports El Financiero. The value of the acquisition was not disclosed. Megacable said the deal is subject to approval by the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT). PCTV produces and distributes its own TV channels as well as those of international TV providers. Megacable ended the first quarter of 2014 with a 10 percent growth in net profit, with 2.18 million video subscribers, 1.03 million internet subscribers and 614,497 telephony subscribers.
