Megafon revenues increase 1.6% in Q1, OIBDA lower

Russian mobile operator Megafon announced that its revenue increased by 1.6 percent year-on-year to RUB 75.150 billion in the first quarter of this year. Mobile data services were the key growth driver, increasing by 15.6 percent to RUB 20.648 billion. OIBDA still fell 5.4 percent to RUB 30.247 billion, and the OIBDA margin dropped to 40.2 percent versus 43.2 percent in the year-earlier period. Megafon blamed the decline on increased sales costs due to subscriber growth and commissions at Svyaznoy, higher rental costs and the new way of calculating spectrum fees in Russia. Net profit
