Meo makes downward revision to figures on payphone use

Friday 21 December 2018 | 22:46 CET | News
Portuguese operator Meo has made a downward review to its figures on the use of public payphones, from an average of two calls per day to one over a year. A total of 3.1 million calls were made, about half of the 6.0 million previously reported to the National Communications Authority (Anacom). The correction of the data made by Meo reinforces the recommendation made by the regulator to the government in May that there is no justification for designating providers for the universal service, namely the public payphone service.
