Messaging revenues to decline to USD 112.9 bln in 2019

Tuesday 9 June 2015 | 23:34 CET | News
The messaging market will decline to USD 112.9 billion in 2019 from USD 113.5 billion in 2014, a reduction of USD 600 million, according to a report by Juniper Research. Overall, messaging traffic is forecast to double by 2019. This is driven by OTT (over-the-top) messaging applications, such as WhatsApp and Line, seeing a threefold increase in message traffic to 100 trillion by 2019 globally from almost 31 trillion in 2014. Importantly, the revenue generated from each OTT message is forecast be less than 1 percent of that from SMS and MMS in 2019.
