Metroweb plans to expand network to two more cities - report

Milan-based broadband provider Metroweb is planning to expand its fibre-optic network to two more major Italian cities, having agreed a EUR 100 million loan with two Italian banks, reports Corriere della Sera. The company is pressing ahead with its own investment programme as it continues to negotiate with the Italian government and operators such as Telecom Italia and Vodafone Italia on future broadband strategy. According to the report, Metroweb will select the metropolitan areas with the highest housing density among a shortlist that includes Florence, Parma, Verona, Brescia and Monza.
