Metroweb to connect Genoa metro and port area

Wednesday 7 January 2015 | 09:35 CET | News
Milan-based broadband provider Metroweb has signed an agreement with Genoa city council to bring fibre-optic broadband coverage to the city's metro network by April, with the entire port area to follow. Mayor Marco Doria said the deal would help to convert Genoa into a genuine smart city, behind only Milan in fibre optic development. Metroweb has already rolled out 390 km of fibre optic cables and connected 20 city council buildings, including local government offices and tourist information points, to the broadband network.
