Mexican mobile broadband lines up 9% to 88 mln

Mexico had 88.2 million mobile broadband lines at the end of December 2018, up 8.9 percent from a year earlier, according to the latest data from the Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT). Traffic over 4G networks accounted for 70.5 percent of the total, with 3G accounting for 29.2 percent and 2G networks just 0.3 percent. In fact, mobile broadband penetration has more than tripled from 29 lines per 100 inhabitants to 71 lines per 100 inhabitants from December 2013 to December 2018, said the regulator.
