Mexican mobile broadband users up to 50.9 mln in Q4 2014

Mexico ended the final quarter 2014 with a total of 101.8 million mobile subscribers, down from 106.7 million in the year-earlier quarter, according to the latest figures released by the country's telecoms watchdog IFT. Around 87 percent of users subscribe to prepay lines, while the number of mobile broadband users increased by 22.3 percent compared to the year-earlier quarter to reach 50.9 million. Telcel continues to dominate the mobile telephony market, accounting for 67 percent of subscribers, down from 69 percent the previous quarter, followed by Movistar with 21 percent, Unefon with 5
