Mexican mobile ecosystem worth USD 40 bln to economy - GSMA

The mobile industry in Mexico generated USD 40 billion in value-added terms last year, accounting for nearly 3.5 percent of the country's GDP, according to a new GSMA Intelligence country report. Published to coincide with the CLT16 Latin American telecoms congress held in Cancun, the study said recent market reforms in Mexico have served to increase mobile affordability, competition and investment, resulting in rising subscriber penetration levels and accelerated uptake of advanced mobile services and smartphones.
