Mexican operators set to lose 2.5 GHz band concessions

Friday 23 September 2016 | 10:13 CET | News
The 11 Mexican companies with spectrum in the 2.5 GHz frequency band have been told they'll lose their concession if they don't use it by 31 December 2016, reports El Universal, citing Alejandro Navarrete, head of the Radio Spectrum Unit of Mexico's Federal Telecommunications Institute (IFT). The companies agreed to voluntarily hand back 130 MHz of spectrum to the state some three years ago but kept 60 MHz in the 2.5 GHz band with a view to providing mobile broadband services within an agreed term.
