Mexican regulator denies user data claims

The Mexican telecommunications regulator IFT has strongly denied newspaper reports that it is supporting legislation that will force operators to hand over user data. In a statement, the IFT referred to an article entitled "IFT endorses telecoms spying" published in the daily Reforma, reminding the newspaper that negotiations with a number of parties were still ongoing and that the only document issued thus far is the Draft Project on Collaboration in Security and Justice published for public consultation on the IFT's website back in November.
