Mexican smartphone users up 10% to 60.6 mln in 2016

The smartphone is fast replacing the PC as the preferred means of accessing the internet in Mexico, with the number of smartphone users rising to 60.6 million in 2016, up 9.7 percent from the previous year's figure of 50.6 million, according to a study conducted by communications regulator IFT. Over the same period, the number of computer users fell 4.3 percent even though total internet users in the country climbed to 65.5 million, up 2.1 percent year on year.
